We finished Scarlett’s third stage in February. She had almost 95% of her nevus removed from her left arm, wrist and hand and the skin divided from the abdomen. She is a total rock star! She has healed so well and I am happy to say that she is already back to her feisty, energetic self. Mom and dad report that the scars are healing nicely. Her surgical plan will resume in a year or more to finish removal of the remaining nevus.
This was all possible thanks to Fresh Start Caring for Kids Foundation. Their generous support allows families like Scarlett’s to receive state of the art, compassionate care at the University of Chicago without cost. While they did need to spend a few nights in the windy city, everyone reports that the trip was worth it!
